On World RNA Day (Aug 1), the newly designated Center of Excellence in RNA Research and Therapeutics (CERRT) was launched through a partnership between the RNA Institute of University at Albany and the University of Rochester's Center for RNA Biology. Funded by New York State's NYSTAR program, CERRT will focus on advancing RNA-based therapies and building New York's biotechnology workforce.

The Center will expand hands-on research programs, industry partnerships, and training initiatives for students-from high school to postdoctoral levels-connecting them to major biotech companies like Regeneron, Pfizer, and Curia. CERRT aims to strengthen the state's position as a hub for biotech innovation while preparing the next generation of scientists for higher level biotech careers.
